8th Grade Registration for High School

	Students have received registration packets from counselors
	Jan. 23, 6:00-8:00pm High School Showcase at McKinney High School and McKinney North
	Jan. 25, 6:00-8:00pm High School Showcase at McKinney Boyd
	Jan. 27, Registration forms and 4-year plans are to be turned in to math teachers
	Parents may contact counselors for specific questions; students A-K contact Mrs. Phillips at rphillips@mckinneyisd.net; students L-Z contact Mrs. Kiefer at chkiefer@mckinneyisd.net
	A high school counselor will be on campus Feb. 1st to review 4-year plans and answer questions. Parents are welcome to "drop in" for a visit.

Yearbook Ordering Deadline!

We are calling Josten's at 11 a.m. Friday, January 27 with how many books we need to have printed. If we have your order in by then, you'll get the GREATEST yearbook Faubion has ever done! We promise! However, if you do not have your order in by 11 a.m. on January 27 you will not get a yearbook. We are NOT ordering extras for May delivery. We can't afford to pay for books that are not assigned to a particular student. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The induction ceremony takes place NEXT Tuesday (Jan 31) from 6:00-7:30 pm.

Online High School courses Offered to 8th Graders

MISD 8th graders have the option of accelerating their course work by taking an additional course online during the Spring semester. If you are interested in signing up your 8th grader for an online course there is a $220 fee ($50 for those who receive free or reduced lunch) and your child will be required to attend one orientation time chosen from the dates below.

Upon Counselor Approval, one of the following courses may be taken for credit acceleration:

	Psychology
	Sociology
	Health

Orientation 4-5 pm on dates below (choose 1 location)

DMS- Jan. 30
CMS- Jan. 31
EMS- Feb. 1
JMS- Feb 2
FMS- Feb 6

Payment can be made to your campus counselor in the form of cash, check or money order made payable to McKinney ISD. Students should contact their campus counselors for more information on registering.

High School Cheerleading Try-Outs

Click here for a timeline of meetings and due dates pertaining to cheer try-outs. All applications must be submitted online. If you are unable to scan and email a copy of your proof of residency and a current MISD UIL Physical, those must be submitted the first day of clinic. Please arrive a few minutes early on this day. Copies of the handbook will not be provided at the informational meeting. If you are unable to download a copy, copies will be available in the main office at each high school campus. The online application and handbook will be available on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at http://finearts.mckinneyisd.net/cheerleading. The 12–13 MISD Cheerleading and Mascot Handbook contains all the information regarding tryouts.

Nurse's Notes on Immunizations

The Care Van will be giving free immunizations to children from birth to 18 years of age at Lawson Early Childhood Center, 500 Dowell Street, McKinney, from 5-7 pm on Thursday, January 26. Take a copy of your child's immunization records with you and come early! Immunizations are given on a first come, first served basis.

Parents of sixth graders still needing immunizations before entrance into seventh grade received letters from the nurse in December. Please provide proof of these immunizations as soon as possible to avoid any delays in processing your child's 7th grade schedule for next year. You may fax the proof to 469-742-6901 attention: NURSE or scan the proof and e-mail it to rdraper@mckinneyisd.net . A hard copy of the proof is always welcomed, too!

Join the Faubion PTO-We hope you will join your fellow parents and be involved with your students' education by joining the Faubion Parent Teacher Organization. It is our hope this year to expand our "Faubion Family" by communicating our events and volunteer needs through a monthly newsletter to our membership and by utilizing an online "signup" website. With the many education cuts our state is adjusting to, we can fill the gap with needed help and resources that can be applied directly to our students.
