Yearbook Signing Party and 25 EXTRA Books

Yearbooks have arrived and they look fantastic!  Students who purchased a book will receive it on Monday, May 21 during our annual yearbook signing party!  Good news...the plant sent us 25 EXTRA yearbooks.  We are selling them on a first-come first-serve basis at $40 apiece. Email Mrs. Goodwin at bgoodwin@mckinneyisd.net to reserve one of the extras.  Payment is required before a book is designated to a particular person.  When they are gone, they're gone.  Hurry and buy now if you still need a yearbook!!

Medicine Pick-Up Procedures

Prescription and over-the-counter medication left in the school clinic after school is dismissed on May 31, 2012, must be destroyed.  This includes inhalers, Epipens, and diabetes supplies.  Parents must pick up any extra medication.  None may be released to a student.

If you anticipate your child needing medicine during school hours again next year, remember you and your child’s doctor must complete a new prescription medication administration consent form for the 2012-2013 school year.  Thank you for working with the nurse to promote the safe administration and transport of medications at school.

Summer School

Attention 8th graders: It's time to start thinking about High School Summer School. If you are interested in taking either an online course such as Health, Psychology or Sociology or a course during summer school such as Professional Communications, PE or Art please contact Mrs. Phillips (A-K) or Mrs. Kiefer (L-Z). It is $220 per semester and is being hosted at McKinney Boyd High School. Summer 1 is June 12 - June 28 and Summer 2 is July 16 - August 2nd.

Moving over the summer?

If you plan to move out of the Faubion school district, please contact the registrar Pat Crow at 469-742-6909 or pcrow@mckinneyisd.net.

Nurse's Notes

**** Parents of 6th graders-Time is Running Out to Turn in Those Shot Records!

Proof of updated immunizations must be given to the school nurse on or before May 25th for your child to receive a 7th grade schedule this summer. Rising 7th graders must provide proof of the following:

Tdap within the last 5 years (known as Tdap, Boostrix, or Adacel)

A Second Varicella Vaccine (or proof of chicken pox disease)

and  Meningococcal Vaccine (known as MCV, Menactra, or Menveo)

It takes time to process all the immunization records into the MISD system, so please obtain the necessary immunizations for your student and send the proof as soon as possible to avoid delays in processing your child's schedule for next fall. If the school receives proof of these immunizations after May 25th, it may delay your child receiving his/her schedule until the first day of school or later. It is the law that proof of up-to-date immunizations is required for a child to attend school in the state of Texas.

The Care Van provides free immunizations to children from birth to 18 years of age if those children have no insurance coverage for immunizations. The next local Care Van opportunity will be at the following time and place:

         Lawson Early Childhood Center

         500 Dowell St.

         Thursday, May 24. 2012

         5-7 p.m.

The Collin County Health Clinic also provides free or low-cost immunizations to students without insurance coverage for immunizations:

            Collin County Health Clinic

            825 N. McDonald Street

            Monday- Friday

            7:30am-11:00am and 1:00 pm-4:00pm
