Impact of the Library on Student Achievement

Strong school library media programs make a difference in academic achievement. Three major research studies were done in 2000 in over 900 schools in Alaska, Pennsylvania, and Colorado.  Two other statewide studies were done in 2001 in Texas and Oregon.  From programs elements were identified as the foundation for the library to impact student achievement.
