ACADEMICS

Pursuing academic excellence is the goal of the teachers and staff at McKinney North High School. While extra-curricular activities round out the high school student experience, it is the proficiencies and application of knowledge that our students gain at MNHS that prepares them for the future. With this in mind, it is every teacher’s duty and responsibility to MNHS students to provide them with highly engaging lessons.  Lessons should be created with the idea and understanding that the focus should be on learning.  Goals and objectives should be clearly expressed to students multiple times throughout a lesson to ensure that students understand the purpose of their learning.  Also, keeping in mind that all students do not learn in the same way or on the same pace, lessons should provide multiple strategies for engaging all students and a variety of ways for students to demonstrate their success in the learning process.  Our goal at MNHS is to create a safe learning environment for all.

Academic Dishonesty

Students found to have engaged in academic dishonesty shall be subject to grade penalties on assignments or tests and disciplinary penalties in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Academic Dishonesty includes cheating or copying the work of another student, plagiarism, and unauthorized communication between students during an examination. The determination that a student has engaged in academic dishonesty shall be based on the judgment of the classroom teacher or another supervising professional employee, taking into consideration written materials, observation, or information from students. – McKinney ISD-EIA (LOCAL)
