McKinney Vento Homeless Education Assistance
For the past four years, we have collaborated with local non-profits and government to bring the
Summit on Youth to this community. This event brings together those in our area who have a
vested interest in helping teens succeed. We spend the entire day learning, networking, sharing
and brainstorming, so that we all can work better together.
A big shout-out to our kids; they took most of the photos used throughout our website. Nice!
In September 2012 CNN's Money Magazine ranked McKinney 2nd best place to live in the United States (we'd rank it 1st Place!)
McKinney North High School was born in the year 2000
McKinney is the county seat of Collin County, Texas
The first known reference to the word Bulldog was made in 1631 or 1632 in a letter by a man named Preswick Eaton where he writes: "procuer mee two good Bulldogs, and let them be sent by ye first shipp" (we're thinking a blue one and an orange one)
McKinney North High School enrollment is approaching 2000 students - including Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors
The city of McKinney was born in 1849 with a 130 acre donation from a local landowner
Our city and our county are named after Mr. Collin McKinney - one of the 5 people who drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence and the oldest person to sign it
Mr. McKinney is credited with suggesting that counties in North Texas be 30 miles square - thus allowing a rider to travel to the county seat, conduct business, and ride back home in a day
The original purpose of the Bulldog was to subdue bulls by latching onto the bull's nose, or muzzle, and submitting the larger animal - today we (mostly) discourage this practice during academic & athletic competition

Below you will find a link to the State of Texas School Report Card for McKinney North High School. This is a report required by the Texas Legislature and prepared by the Texas Education Agency. It is to be sent to the parent or guardian of every child enrolled in a Texas public school. The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures.
State law requires that the school report card display information about the state, the district, and the school. Where possible, the information must be reported by race/ethnicity and socio-economic status of the students and must include at least two years of results.
A more complete report about McKinney North High School, the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), is available by contacting Mr. Spann's office or can be accessed online by accessing the link below.
What would happen if every Bulldog student and Bulldog Faculty Member recited the following phrase once a day, everyday, for an entire month?
